Question: Is it possible to strengthen Palladium into a solid metal like steel or titanium. I know Tungsten is incredibly weak by itself, but when combined with carbon makes Tungsten Carbide which is one of the strongest materials in existence. Im kind of curious if you would get similar results from Palladium. Has anyone even made a Palladium Carbide?

Answer: Yes, palladium carbide has been around for a while. The earliest reference I could find is from 1934. In the mid '60s palladium carbide alloys with other metals were being used in nuclear reactors, I don't know if that is still the case. Nowadays, most work with Pd and C is the field of nanoparticles. I suspect if palladium carbide was unusually useful, someone would be making a lot of it right now, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
